history of the Fremont Symphony free Concerts

Since 1975 the Fremont Symphony has presented free Children’s Concerts every year, giving thousands of school-age children a chance to hear live symphonic music. The concerts are produced in partnership with the Fremont Unified School District and Ohlone College and generally include a performance by one of our Young Artist Competition winners.

A unique feature of the concerts is the performance of several original student compositions. From tunes selected and submitted by the various schools, several of the best are professionally arranged and performed by the orchestra, while the young composers stand to receive recognition.

Thus, the children attending the concerts get to hear music performed by and music written by someone near their own age, and many may be inspired to take up an instrument or to try composing themselves.
